The biggest chip experiment ever done...as far as we know
So we did something naughty...
ATTENTION: This should not be done at home, we recommend healthy lifestyle choices and a balanced diet!!
This post isn't quite like any of our previous ones. What you are going to read now is our reviews of differnt types of chips that we taste tested. Our theory was, the more fat, the better it tastes. Therefore I will only add the amount of fat there is in all of the chips, because the other stats were roughly the same, also with some chips we'll talk about the amount of salt there is in them.
Purely for academic purposes, obviously....
Lets start with our least favourite, we could agree on this one. Out of all of the chips we tasted, the Lays Chilli & Lime ones were the worse. At first bite it tasted like really spicy soap. Not really my flavour of choice.
Amount of fat: 30g in 100g of chpis, that makes 270 kcal from fat.
Next up the Nacho Jalapeno chips by Estrella. I was afraid that these ones would be a lot worse, sine I've had the same flavour of chips by Lays and they were way to spicy for me, but these ones just tasted like paprika and not much else. Not my favourite, but they were ok.
Amount of fat: 33g in 100g of chips, that makes 297 kcal from fat.
Then we tried the Kebab chips by Lays. Neither of us has ever eaten Kebab, so it was difficult to compare, but the chips themselves tasted a bit spicy, not our favourites either, but ok.
Amount of fat: 30g in 100g of chpis, that makes 270 kcal from fat.
The last sort of spicy flavour we tried was Salsa chips by Lays. They tasted quite a lot like Ketchup chips, which we didn't mind, they were good, we enjoyed them.
Amount of fat: 30g in 100g of chpis, that makes 270 kcal from fat.
Now something from the completly other end of the spectrum: Garden Dill chips by Estrella. Now these ones we both liked very much, they're so different and you could almost say they taste healthy, although, they obviously aren't.
Amount of fat: 33g in 100g of chips, that makes 297 kcal from fat.
Now I'm going to talk about all of the bacon chips I have had the honour to eat. We managed to get our hands on three different kinds of bacon flavoured chips and the first ones were Grilled Bacon chips by Lays. They were really good, but the flavour compared to the other two was a bit weaker, still liked it a lot though.
Amount of fat: 30g in 100g of chpis, that makes 270 kcal from fat.
Now Estrella Grilled Bacon ones, we liked them a bit more, because the chips themselves were thicker and there was more flavour.
Amount of fat: 33g in 100g of chips, that makes 297 kcal from fat.
My personal favourite was the third one. Smokey Bacon chips by Estrella, they're just so good, so flavourful and delicious.
Amount of fat: 33g in 100g of chips, that makes 297 kcal from fat.
Now Hot Rod chips by Taffel. They were quite different from the previous ones, but we liked them. One thing worth mentioning is, that they had about twice as much salt as the other chips we tried, so that's worth remembering.
Amount of fat: 20g in 100g of chips, that makes 180 kcal from fat.
Cheetos Pizzerini chips, they were obviously corn chips, the previous ones were all potatoe based. They tasted rather good, not a lot like pizza, but still good.
Amount of fat: 23g in 100g of chips, that makes 207 kcal from fat.
The other flavour we tried from Cheetos was the Ketchup flavour and we liked this one slightly more. They reminded me a bit of when I was little and use to eat Cheetos quite often
Amount of fat: 24g in 100g of chips, that makes 216 kcal from fat.
So that's it for all the chips we tried out. If you have eaten any of them and liked them or maybe have another favourite then you can let aus know in the comments.
If this post left you a little bit sick in the stomach, then there are actually some lower fat and healthier chips out there. We might make a blog post about them separately, but I recommend Marks & Spencer for chips.
That's it for now,
Kaiela :)
By the way, for anyone worried about our waistlines, we didn't eat all of those chips at once, just so you'd know. :)
