Healthier treats for all sweettooths out there :)

Hello :)

As I'm sure all sweettooths know, it's very difficult to find good sweet treats that would at the same be healthy and deliciously mouthwatering. That's why today I have a little blog post about a few different chocolates we tried that claim to be slightly healthier although, clearly still not healthy. We also tried a new vegan ice cream, which we thought would go well with this theme, so we'll be giving a small review about that as well, let's get started.

I'll start with the chocolates, firstly, we tried two vegan chocolates and aslo two chocolates which were simply lactose free, one of them was also sugar free. I'll go in order of us trying them. The first one we sunk our teeth into was the lactose- and sugarfree chocolate. It was a dark chocolate (50% cocoa) and instead of sugar they had used stevia. It's made by a Finnish comany called Brunberg and the macros of it were 36,6 g fat, 54,9 g carbohydrates, 2,3g protein per 100g. It gave 465 kcal per 100 g of chocolate, which is nearly 100 kcal less than most chocolates. Taste wise it was rather nice, it melted well and even Kai liked it although she's not the biggest dark chocolate fan. You could really taste that it was high quality and well made, we liked it, it wasn't anything surprising or unusual, but it was a good dark chocolate and that's really all we expected from it.

Next up, the milk chocolate from the same company as the previous one, it also didn't have any lactose in it, but it did have sugar. the macros of it were 36,1 g fat, 49,5 g carbohydrates, 8,6g protein per 100g. It gave 538 kcal per 100 g of chocolate. It was actually also rather nice although it was just plain milk chocolate, I liked it, it felt rather silky once it started to melt, it did melt quite fast as well, so all in all, we give it a thumbs up. One thing worth mentioning is that all of these chocolates are nearly twice as expencive as regular chocolates of that size, so in comparison with that I'm not sure if the taste itself is worth the money, but I feel like it's a good alternative for those who are lactose intolerant.

Now we get to the vegan chocolates, the first one was White Nougat Crisp chocolate by ichoc, it was made of rice milk. We have tried one of the other flavours before and weren't the biggest fans of it, but this one completly cahnged our thoughts of vegan chocolate, it was simply amazing, it didn't taste like chocolate, true, but it tasted heavenly nevertheless. It's difficult to describe the flavour, it tatsed a bit like some sort of cookie with nutella, it had a nice crisp to it and we definitely approve of this one. About the macros, it had 39 g of fat, 54,3 g of carbohydrates and 3,6 g of protein. It also had 586 kcal in 100 g of product, which to be honest is one of the highest calorie amont I've seen in chocolate...but it's so worth it.

The second vegan chocolate we tried was by Chocolate and Love, it was dark chocolate (67% cocoa) with mint. It's one of my favourite combinations of all time and I was not disappointed. The mint flavour was quite subtle, but still there, the chocolate didn't melt as fast as the other dark chocolate, but that might be because this one is even darker and I still liked it. It tasted very high quality and I felt a bit fancy eating it. It truly was very good. The macros were 39 g fat, 43 g carbohydrates and 7g protein and it had 560 kcal per 100 g.

And now the vegan ice cream, we've been trying a lot of different ones recently. This time we went with Tofuline Caramel/Toffee ice cream, it was also in a wafer cone and had chocolate glazing. The ice cream was without a doubt very good, everything about it, the taste, the wafer, chocolate, texture. It was rather sweet, as we've noticed with Tofuline ice creams before, but with this flavour it didn't bother us as much. It was still very good and we definitely recommend it. Macros were 8,7 g of fat, 29 g of carbohydrates and 2,3 g of protein in 100 ml of ice cream. It had 207 kcal in 100 ml and the ice cream itself was 150 ml.

That's it for today, hope you enjoyed,
Kaiela :)
