Our Guide to Vegan Ice Creams Part 1

Since it is the summer and although the weather is still moody even vegans wish to eat ice cream. We have sacrificed our figures to try out as many vegan ice creams during the past year or so, to give you the full guide to vegan ice creams, which are good, which simply aren't worth the price? Stay tuned and you will find out all there is to know.

There will be more then one part to this series, since to our delight the amount of vegan ice creams is on the rise. This fist part will be about small ice creams, so those in cones or on sticks. I hope you enjoy. We will give our honest thoughts, this is not sponsored, although we wish it was.

Some of these you may have already seen in our blog previously, but we thought it'd be nice to have them in one place together for those interested.

Let's start with all the ice creams then:

Vanilla ice cream with nuts and a drizzle of chocolate on top, in a cone. (Valsoia)

• soy based
• 75 g, but in a pack of four

• Taste: 6/10
• Consistency: 8,25/10
• Packaging: 4/10
• Allaround score: 6,5

Comments: the ice cream was very creamy, didn't melt too fast, but also wasn't too thick or hard, just the right amount of softness, we couldn't tell that it was not milk based, it tasted just like most ice creams that are similar to this one.

Rice (Renamed: Choice) ice cream, vanilla flavoured with chocolate syrup inside and a layer of chocolate ontop, in a cone.

• also gluten free, the cone is corn based

• 150 ml
• Price: 7,75/10
• Taste: 7,25/10
• Consistency: 9/10
• Packaging: 8,5/10
• Allaround score: 8,125/10

Comments: the ie cream is smooth, very creamy, melts around as fast as regular ice cream, the chocolate glaze is more on the s´thin side, but not too thin, tastes good, no aftertaste, perhaps a bit sweeter than the ideal, but still not overpowering.

• 55 ml

• Taste: 8/10
• Consistency: 8/10

• Allaround score: 7,875/10

Comments: the ice cream was again very creamy, it tasted sweet, but not overpowering, the taste of strawberries was more like the artificial strawberry flavouring rather than natural strawberries, but it still tasted good and i can imagine it being a children's favourite. There was no unusual taste, could fool someone to think it's dairy based.

Choice Caramel Tofee ice cream, in a cone and chocolate glazing

• Taste: 9,75/10
• Consistency: 9,5/10
• Packaging: 8,75/10
• Allaround score: 8,94/10

Comments: the consistency and creaminess is the same as the rice milk based ice cream, we mentioned before but the flavour is definitely better, we love caramel everything, so naturally we also loved this ice cream and have repurchased it many times. It's one of our favourites for sure.

Valsoia chocolate and vanilla+almond ice creams 

• made of soy milk
• 4 ice reams in a pack, two of each flavour
• Available at stores: Rimi
• Price: 7/10
• Taste: 7,5/10
• Consistency: 8,25/10
• Packaging:5/10
• Allaround score: 6,94/10

Comments: Both of the flavours were very good and definitely creamy and smooth, the chocolate glazing was crispy, not too thin either, they're perfect little refreshments during the day, the hocolate one was very strongly cacao flavoured, so it tasted like dark chocolate rather than milk chocolate that might not be the children's favourite, but we loved it, definitely good ice creams. I think they were around 50 g each.
