Oatly - Vegan ice cream review

We're here again with a vegan ice cream review, this time we are going to talk about two flavours of vegan ice cream by Oatly, we have been on the hunt for these ones for a while now and finally got our hands on them, so lets get started.

The two flavours we tried were chocolate and vanilla, so yes, they aren't quite as adventurous as the OkoBay ice creams that we tried (Review of those is HERE), but that does give us a good chance to compare them to milk based ice creams of the same flavour. Oatly is a Swedish company that makes all sorts of vegan products and as their name states, the products are based on oatmilk or oats. There is actually a third flvour, strawberry, out, but we don't have it here in Estonia yet, hopefully we will soon. It's also worth mentioning that they are one of the cheapest vegan ice creams we have found, we got them for 1.99 for 0,5 l.

Anyway, lets get to the actual review now. We were very pleasantly surprised with these ones, since we have heard mixed reviews. They are very creamy and smooth, I could never guess that they're not made of milk. The chocolate one also had a bit of chocolate syrup, or something like that, inside it, which made it taste even better. We liked them both very much and I'd say that it's good quality ice cream, I enjoyed it and defnitley would buy it again, I feel like the price is very reasonable as well, especially for vegan ice cream.

A bit about the nutrients as well. First the vanilla one. The macros are 10g of fat, 23g of carbohydrates and 0,6 g of protein, that according to % of Energy is: 49/50/1, (With the recommendation being 25-30/50-60/10-20) It has 180 kcal in 100 g of ice cream, which is about the average for ice cream.

Chocolate ice cream has 200 kcal per 100 g, so a bit more. The macros are 9,4 g of fat, 26 g of carbohydrates and 1,4 g of protein. The percentage of energy is accordingly: 43/54/3, which is slightly better, but as always since it's not something we'd have on a daily basis or a lot of at the time, then it's easy to balance out during the day.

Hope it was helpful, as a coclusion, we definitely recommend these ice creams, they're very good, not too sweet, no weird tastes, they're creamy and smooth and delicious.
