Eurovision 2016 semi final 1 - our afterthoughts

Hello :)

Today was the first semi final of Eurovision and we thought it'd be only appropriate to write all our thoughts down and share them with the world. Firstly we'll go by act and say a few words about them and then we'll say who we thought should've qualified and who actually did, so let's get into it.

Finland: I feel like her vocals weren't quite as good as in their national final, other than that it was fun and upbeat, she seemed to be enjoying it, but I did feel like it could'ev been better.

Greece: It was amusing, I can say that much, I hadn't heard the translation of the lyrics before and they sure were interesting. All in all it was ok, but nothing special.

Moldova: It was definitely better than her performance at their national final, but still not enough to surprise us.

Hungary: The performance was roughly the same as in the national final. it was very good, his vocals were great and all in all I still enjoyed it.

Croatia: I had not heard her live before, I feel like I expected her to be bettter, it was ok, but the performance was rather static, I think the dress, although, it really was something, held her back a bit.

The Netherlands: He was surprisingly good live, like really really good and everything was well put together, we liked the entire performance, it was very enjoyable.

Armenia: She has an amazing voice, it sounded very good live and the performance was interesting to watch and listen to.

San Marino: It continues to be slighty amusing to us, the previous version was way better, but this one...not quite our cup of tea.

Russia: It was quite a show, definitely interesting performance, the song itself is rather traditional Eurovision song, it sounded good and well put together.

Czech Republic: she was also rather good live, the song is beautiful and the performance was sweet, definitely their best song ever.

Cyprus: It's still one of our favourites, he sang it very well and it's simply so catchy, we liked it a lot. His voice sounded great as well.

Austria: I liked it that it was less pink and cotton candy sweet than in their national final, she sang it well and all in all an ok song.

Estonia: I think all in all his performance was very good, don't know if the card trick was necessary, but still very good, his voice was on point and yes of course I'm biased, but it was really good. The backdrop and evreything was beautiful, I mean I'm sure everybody must have seen it. Amazing, am I right.

Azerbaijan: She was also very good live, the song was nice, performance was good and all in all a good performance.

Montenegro: the song itself isn't quite our cup of tea, but it was well performed, although at times a bit allover the place.

Iceland: The song and performance was still very good, but the one they had at their national final worked a little better for some reason, still an amazing song though.

Bosnia & Herzogovina: They sure had interesting outfits, not sure how we feel about them, all in all it was ok, not quite our taste, but they sang well.

Malta: her live wasn't very interesting, but the song itself was nice, we sort of just expected a little bit more out of the performance.

If it were up to us, then we would've sent to the final Azerbaijan, Estonia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Russia, Hungary, The Netherlands, Malta, Armenia and Iceland.

However the actual qualifiers were Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Russia, Hungary, The Netherlands, Armenia, Austria and Croatia.

We were of course very sad that Estonia didn't qualify, we were really hoping we would, but I guess we'll have to hope for better luck next year, this one was the more difficult semi final.

In general we were happy with the results though, probably the most disappointing for us was Croatia, her live performance wasn't very good in our opinion.

Kaiela :)
