Eurovision 2016 semi final 2 - our afterthoughts

Hello :)

It's this time again...the second semi is here and we obviously have to write down everything we thought during the show. I'll be writing about all of the songs and our qualifiers as well as the actual qualifiers.

Latvia: he sang it very well, his voice sounded good live, as we would've guessed, the song has grown on me since I first listened to it, but not quite enough to call it my favourite.

Poland: He was better live than he was at the Polish national final for sure and yes this song has grown on me a lot as well, I quite enjoyed it.

Switzerland: Her voice actually sounded better than in the audio version, it wasn't as sharp as usually. We enjoyed her performance, although the dance movements were a bit bizarre

Israel: His performance was very good, his voice and emotion were both amazing. Don't know if the background spinning thingy was necessary, but all in all it was nice.

Belarus: His vocals and general live performance has improved so much, we're very pleasantly surprised and since we liked the song already before, then we liked it even more now.

Serbia: Her performance was very good, voice was strong and very enjoyable. Alltogether we liked it and preferred it to the original version.

Ireland: his voice was pretty good, but not quite as good as in the audio, it was still good and it might be just me, but I still liked it and the song as well. He felt comfortable on stage as well.

FYR Macedonia: Her vocals were good, but something in the backup vocalists voices bothered me slightly, otherwise the performance was fine.

Lithuania: He was very good live and we enjoyed it, don't like his haircut, but that's completly unimportant, generally we liked it.

Australia: Such a powerful voice and although she just sat there, it seemed very enjoyable. And her dress was so shiny and magical...

Slovenia: She sounded better than in the national final, we can't complain about the dancing either...if you can call it dancing...generally an ok performance.

Bulgaria: Her performance was very good, loved her voice and energy on stage. Simply amazing, one of our favourites for sure.

Denmark: They sound rather good together and the song is very catchy, they also have a good energy on stage.

Ukraine: Her voice is unique and very strong for sure, by now I'm already used to the song as well and it's easier to appreciate it as well, once I've read the translation.

Norway: She's still very good live and her performance was enjoyable, so we liked it a lot.

Georgia: It has improved slightly from the original version, but still not quite our cup of tea.

Albania: Her voice is good, but I think the song would've done better if it had stayed in their native language.

Belgium: Her live performance has improved a lot, it was very enjoyable and her vocals are also better, we enjoyed it. She seemed to be enjoying it as well.

That's it, if it were up to us, then to the final would go: Australia, Bulgaria, Israel, Serbia, Switzerland, Norway, Lithuania, Belgium, Belarus, Ireland, although we do think that Poland and Ukraine would deserve a spot in the final as well as Latvia...yeah, we could not decide...any of these would make us happy and we feel it would be deserved for them to qualify.

Anyway, the actual 10 finalist are: Latvia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Australia, Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, Israel, Lithuania and Belgium.

Our main surprise was Georgia, it's really not our type of song, we are slighlt shocked, but I guess we're just going to have to live with it.

Until the final,
Kaiela :)
